On April 12, 2005, U.S. Patent #6,878,413 was granted to Amalgamated for a method of producing a super high gloss waterbase or uv coating finish in an in-line printing process, wet or dry trap.
 
 
The process technology produces:

• Greater gloss depth appearance

• Higher abrasion resistance

• Produces a glass smooth surface finish similar to film lamination

• The patented system can process waterbased, ultraviolet curable,
   electron-beam curable and solvent-borne chemistry

• The printing processes capable of utilizing the technology are sheet
   fed, web offset, flexographic, gravure and offline coating application
