Amalgamated International Ltd. holds ten United States patents that represent prominent developments within the printing and coating industry.

Under U.S. Patent # 4,779,557 Amalgamated introduced a blanket cylinder retractable coater for sheet fed printing presses. 

This form of application set the standard for today's blanket cylinder in-line coater application technology.

In the early 1990's, the printing press manufacturers began to respond to the demand for in-line coatings expressed by printing companies and started to offer factory built coating towers using the Amalgamated blanket cylinder coater concept as their model along with the extended delivery systems for their new presses.
